Ron Swenson

Solar energy pioneer and fanatic ....

Ron is investing in Dillon to further the legacy of his father, Cliff Swenson. When he saw the opportunity to buy land for residential development and team up with local contractor, Eric Wendland, Ron jumped at the chance.

Cliff Swenson was a builder from Silicon Valley who enjoyed hunting in the Big Hole and raising cattle in the Beaverhead. He was very appreciative of the great friends he made in Dillon and he gave back to the community, contributing land for the YMCA, the Kids Fishing Pond and the parkland on Swenson Way that connects Interstate 15 directly to downtown.

Ron's development theory is pretty simple: we can build modestly sized homes that middle class people can afford, and keep them comfortable with minimal heating and cooling costs, if we design them well from the start, and do not deviate from this objective; it is the only kind of home he will be building. So you can expect nine more of these homes becoming available over the next couple of summers.

Eric Wendland

A Dillon kid, Eric graduated from beaverhead county high school in 2003. Eric, and his wife Alicia, returned to Dillon to raise their family and fulfill a vision of a development project designed to provide a lasting economic impact for the Dillon community.

Eric and Alicia Wendland are the builders of the homes under construction, and they have committed to building the nine additional Blacktail Solar Homes as well. In addition, they have purchased approximately twenty adjoining acres with the intent to develop this land in a sustainable way. Those plans are under discussion, and you can rest assured that either additional passive solar homes or high quality commercial, or both, are destined for this space.
